MPC Newsletter 01 — Local Leaders Course 2026
The Local Leaders Course strengthened athlete pathways, leadership development and Para sport programmes in the Maldives.
The Maldives Paralympic Committee successfully concluded the Local Leaders Course 2026, held from 29 to 31 August 2026.
The three-day programme brought participants together for learning and discussion focused on athlete pathways, leadership development and building stronger Para sport programmes in the Maldives.
The course was facilitated by Ms. Lyn Hazel, IPC SfM Development Specialist – Asia, providing participants with an opportunity to strengthen their understanding of leadership and development within the Paralympic Movement.
Developing knowledgeable and capable local leaders is an important part of creating sustainable opportunities for Para athletes. Strong leadership also supports better athlete pathways, improved programme delivery and the continued growth of Para sport at national level.
The Maldives Paralympic Committee extends its appreciation to Ms. Lyn Hazel, the International Paralympic Committee, MNIS, the Ministry, all participants and everyone who contributed towards the successful delivery of the programme.
The knowledge and experience gained through the Local Leaders Course will support ongoing efforts to strengthen the Para sport system and expand opportunities for persons with disabilities to participate and progress in sport across the Maldives.
